The brief
The Upazila Nirbahi Officer's office in Gurudaspur, Natore, runs a support centre for women and children — handling cases of domestic violence, child marriage, and harassment. Complaints used to arrive in person. The office wanted citizens to be able to file a complaint online and follow it through to a resolution, without having to visit.
What I built
- Online complaints, in Bengali. Citizens register, file a complaint, and follow it from their own account.
- Status updates by SMS and email. Each time a complaint moves forward, the complainant hears about it — no need to log in or call the office.
- A workflow for the office. Complaints move from filed, to in progress, to scheduled for a hearing, to resolved, and the settlement officer's details are public.
- Public numbers on the home page. Live counters show how many complaints have been filed and resolved. At the time of writing: 240 filed, 165 resolved.
- A citizen corner. Plain-language pages on domestic violence, child marriage, and eve-teasing, plus ways to rate how a complaint was handled and suggest improvements.
Under the hood
WordPress with a custom theme and Elementor Pro. Complaint forms and the citizen dashboard use ACF Pro and Frontend Admin; accounts use UsersWP; WP SMS sends the status messages; wpDataTables powers the office's lists.
