The brief
Mukto Provat is a Bengali-language news portal covering national news, politics, sport, lifestyle, religion, and local stories from across Bangladesh. The existing site at muktoprovat.com.bd had reached its limits. I'm rebuilding it from scratch — for readers, and for the newsroom that publishes to it every day.
The reading side
- Twenty-plus sections — National, Elections, World, Across the Country, Sport, Entertainment, Opinion, Diaspora, Citizen News, and more — each with its own listing and sub-sections.
- Local news by place. Division, district, and upazila filters, so a reader in one town can find stories from it.
- Video and photo galleries, most-read and trending lists, and a personalised "For You" feed.
- Bengali-first details — Bengali calendar dates, Bengali numerals, and an e-paper link.

The newsroom
The part readers never see is the bigger half of the build:
- An editorial workflow — draft, submit for review, approve, schedule, archive — with separate Bangla and English desks.
- Live-update articles for breaking stories, appended and ended from the editor.
- Homepage curation — editors choose featured stories and reorder sections without a developer.
- Menus, pages, tags, and ad placements, all managed in the admin.
- A media library with automatic watermarking and generated thumbnails.
- Settings for SEO, social, tracking, navigation, widgets, and cache — plus maintenance mode.
- Team roles, two-factor sign-in, notifications, and an audit log of every change.
Under the hood
Next.js 16 with TypeScript, Prisma for data, Better Auth with two-factor authentication, a TipTap rich-text editor, media on Amazon S3 with Sharp-generated thumbnails, and Upstash Redis for caching hot pages.
